Meet Emily Turinas PhD

Psychologist and Psychotherapist in Austin

Hello, I am Emily Turinas and I am so glad you found me. I grew up in Austin, Texas and I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with my PhD in counseling psychology. As a psychotherapist in Austin, I work from a psychodynamic therapy lens and utilize relational and developmental theory to provide therapy to adults. I strongly believe it is important to tailor treatment to the needs of each patient, and often weave in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) into treatment. I am a perinatal therapist who has advanced training in pregnancy and postpartum mental health.

I enjoy working with patients to identify patterns and behaviors that are holding them back from living their most fulfilled life. I work collaboratively with patients and strive to build an environment of trust and curiosity where patients feel heard and understood. I am passionate about what I do and value the connection I have with each patient. If you are looking for a psychotherapist in Austin or virtually across Texas or Colorado, let's talk! Schedule a free consultation to see if I am a good fit.

When I am not working I love spending time traveling, cooking or trying out new restaurants (I am a huge foodie), and crafting. I am married and a mom of a sweet little girl and a sassy pup.
